Vikings Are The New Pirates

You know it’s true, Vikings are just cooler. When all your friends are going as Jack Sparrow or that other lady for Halloween, just think – you could have a stilt-powered viking ship towering above you in your home. Who wins that game?

When we came up with this print, we tried to translate painted canvas textures and graphite line work into one silkscreened piece. This was our first attempt using our hand-built vacuum exposure unit to pull out more details in our work. We’re pretty happy with it. We hope you like it too. Let us know if you want one. $25

  1. Got any tips for building your own vacuum exposure bed? sounds like quite a project! I’m still using a big bit of sponge, a sheet of glass, and a tungsten light. Time to upgrade I think!

    • Hi Christopher,

Sorry for lagging with our comments moderation. I feel bad about taking so long to respond. The setup we have for our exposure unit is basically 36 x 48 to accommodate up to 26 x 40 screens. Enclosed are 6 UV black lights under a sheet of glass. For the vacuum part, we built a frame to the same perimeter and stretched a sheet of neoprene around the frame, just like you’d stretch a canvas. After that, we attached the stretched frame to the unit with hinges, cut a hole in the neoprene to hook up a shop vac, and screwed clamps to the front of the unit to get an airtight seal when we need to expose. I hope that’s some help. Again, sorry for the delay. If you want any more details, email us at bellyachepress@gmail.com. We’re faster replying to that one! Best of luck!
